MOSIAC'S
THE ART OF MOSAICS
“I have absolutely no artistic ability” is a phrase that we hear quite often, when folks first sign- up for our Basic Mosaic Class. But by the end of our class, most are so proud and can hardly believe they were actually able to complete a beautiful project.
Most of our students have no experience at all working with glass, while others have taken classes in fusion or foiling. Regardless, it is our goal to provide students with a basic method and technique to insure their first mosaic experience will be successful. We have completed mosaics projects on ceramic floor tile; glass tabletops; and a variety of metal trays.
They are given a glimpse into many other mosaic styles, methods and techniques. Hopefully, their interest is peaked enough to create a desire to be back in the studio as soon as they can, planning their next project.
As students begin their Journey in Glass in the Studio, they will find many monitors, instructors, and incredible glass artists who are usually more than willing to share experiences, tips and techniques.
Frankly we hope, (like some of us), it won’t take long for them to realize that working with glass is no longer a hobby. It has become an addiction!
Sandra Milner
Mosaic Instructor
Our first season in Palm Creek was the winter of 2010, in 2013 we moved here as year around residents. We were no different than most other newcomers, we set out to experience as many of the activities as we could and in 2014 I finally decided to try my hand and see what the glass shop had to offer.
My first class was in foiling in 2014, followed up with a Fusion Glass. In the summer of 2015, because there were no classes, I tried mosaics on my own. In 2016 the mosaic instructor retired, and I was given the opportunity to take the class.
